Loft conversion in Canonbury

Published by Architect Your Home -

This traditional Victorian 2 bedroom terraced house in Canonbury needed to accommodate its growing family and so an additional bedroom and en-suite shower room were created in the loft.

The secret to a successful loft conversion is to maximise the sense of space and light, as often the roof height can be limited. Here, the architect designed full-height windows and a pair of french doors to extenuate the feeling of openness as the eye is immediately drawn to them.

To create additional width and space, the top flight of the stairs was included in the room and a simple balustrade placed where the wall would have otherwise been.

Finally, a bank of cupboards was tucked neatly under the eaves, and the en-suite shower room made use of Velux windows to create a fresh airy space, thereby making sure every inch of the roof had been used to its full potential.

“Changing our home was the investment of a lifetime. We didn’t know how to put our ideas into practice and our builder didn’t have a clue either… so we contacted Architect Your Home who made everything possible!”
