GDS was founded in 2004 with a focus on finding practical solutions to the lighting challenges faced by the entertainment industry. Our 40-strong Bristol based team created innovative products and control solutions, quickly establishing the company as a market leader. Our backstage lighting Blues System, industry-leading SM console (stage management desk), and perfectly dimmable ArcSystem for auditoriums can be found in some of the most exciting and high profile buildings across the globe.
Our growing international reach led to the opening of GDS Korea in 2017, to better serve the Asian lighting markets with locally manufactured products at the same high GDS standards.

A protected UNESCO World Heritage Site built between 1077 and 1097, St Johns is a Romanesque chapel, found deep within the Tower of London.Acting on behalf of Historic Royal Palaces, architects Carden & Godfrey worked with James Morse Lighting Design to improve both the visitor experience and congressional acts of worship in the chapel, by updating the lighting provision, without causing any disturbance or damage to the fabric of the building.
Built by Richard D’Oyly Carte in 1881, The Savoy Theatre on Londons’ Strand firmly marked its’ place in the history books as the first public building in the world to be entirely illuminated by electric light.In an attempt to address its environmental impact, the theatre wished to replace its existing tungsten house lights with an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly system, which could be retrofitted without impacting the fabric of the historic building.

Opening in the heart of the financial district in Douglas in 2009, The Courthouse quickly became one of the Isle of Man’s premier entertainment venues, but after 10 years space desperately needed to be updated. Ramping up their plans for the architectural sector, Bristol-based lighting manufacturer GDS are excited to announce the addition of Prince Sofunmade to their business development team.
