Landlords would be hit with a Labour Government
Research made by the Financial Times concluded that the UK’s 2.6m landlords would face a moment of reckoning if Labour won the next general election after Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell said he wanted a “right to buy” scheme for private tenants as well as higher taxes on landlords.

Changes to Right to Rent to ease queues at borders
ARLA Propertymark has met with the Home Office about Right to Rent in the context of three areas of concern.Advice from the Home Office remains: if someone can demonstrate they are legally present in the UK, they can pass a Right to Rent check. If their documents relate to List B Time Limited documents, a follow up check must be carried out within 12 months or before the expiry of the document (whichever is the later).

RLA & NLA to merge
The two largest landlord organisations in England and Wales, the National Landlords Association (NLA) and the Residential Landlords Association (RLA) have today launched proposals to unite to create a single organisation.

Right to Rent uncertainty as deadlines brought forward
Media speculation around Brexit yesterday focused on Freedom of Movement and Immigration once again, as reports emerged that Home Secretary Rt Hon Priti Patel MP, plans to abandon the Government’s existing commitment to Right to Rent procedures abruptly on 1st November.

Can digital ID services be made better, centralised, and more useful?Propertymark has already made advances in secure digital identification with NAEA Propertymark's Propertymark Passport, enabling members to verify identity and support HMRC compliance, but a Government consultation is asking the question on a wider scale.
