Licensed property specialists Sidney Phillips has successfully sold the Stable View, a café/restaurant/arts centre in Dowlais near Merthyr Tydfil.

The suburb of Dowlais is a densely populated residential neighbourhood lying on the north eastern edge of Merthyr Tydfil, a vanguard of the Industrial Revolution when the town was famed for its steel works and surrounding Collieries. The Stable View Restaurant stands on a square in the middle of the suburb with a central park/gardens, the library to one corner and the famous Old Dowlais Stables at the top. These stables were the home of many horses and pit ponies during the Industrial Revolution and is now a local monument, although the buildings themselves have been converted to flats and houses.

The Stable View offers a superbly presented two section restaurant area (48), diners lounge, catering kitchen and eight bedrooms, six of which are en suite having previously been utilised as letting rooms.

Purchased through Sidney Phillips in 2017, the property has been operating as a café during the day, and a restaurant by evening, as well as a venue for specific art events.

The busines has now been sold to a local operator, whom is rumoured to be looking at converting the premises back into a public house with letting rooms.

Sidney Phillips sold the Stable View off a freehold asking price of £175,000.
