The Sparkle Clean STM Group (UK) It’s 6:45am on a Wednesday morning and winter is starting to arrive as the cars on the, Hollins Homes, Aston Meadows site have a frosty gloss across their windows. STM Cleaning’s specialist deep cleaning manager and his skilled workforce arrive at the site that is soon to contain 33 brand new homes.
First on the list for today is a sparkle clean of plot 26, but what is the sparkle clean? Well, many recognise, the sparkle clean as the most important clean of all as it is the one that completes the final preparation in cleanliness in anticipation of a new home owner taking possession of their property prior to moving in.
Unsurprisingly, like most things worthwhile, preparations for a sparkle clean must be thorough and timing is everything. The team has to be ready as the final touches are being made by the relevant trade partners and by the on-site build team. Reach and wash systems need to be tested and primed, new magic sponges inserted into utility belts to save time when moving around the house and a hefty supply of disposable gloves need to be on hand, no pun intended.
Then, each sparkle clean is broken down into three main parts.
1. One Best Way - Each site requires the creation of a suite of ‘One Best Way’ procedures. These will ensure a standard way of working for each person who undertakes the process, so that operatives understand change and avoid mistakes.
2. Route Planning – A route plan will be created for each team member aligning the appropriate number of hours to the shift pattern. This route planner will ensure the best route will be taken to minimise waste and maximise efficiency across each location.
3. Multi-Skilling - Training and multi-skilling team members of the cleaning team enables them to perform additional services. Boosting efficiency and productivity. Tasks such as deep cleaning, the rectification of client inspection snagging issues can be migrated to the team’s roles and responsibilities if necessary.
Getting ready for your new home: This is the key time when the majority of homeowners are keen to get into their new property, as such the cleaning teams will finish every sparkle clean the same way to an exceptional standard. The detailed task schedules will take into account 4 key cleaning compliance standards:
• (Level 1) Hygienic Clean: Including bathrooms, toilets and high touchpoint sanitisation including food preparation areas.
• (Level 2) Prestige Clean: Including but not limited to detailed cleans of all dust baring surfaces and the washing of fascias and windows.
• (level 3) Normal Clean: Emptying of bins, vacuuming etc.
• (Level 4) Basic Clean: The replacement of consumables and the addition of air freshers prior to exiting the property etc.
So, now you know what a sparkle clean is and the focused, diligent, hard work and preparation that goes into each and every one of them to make someone’s new home feel exactly like it should.
