The Colwyn Bay Hotel Benefitting from Investment into North Wales Seafront

Spring represents new beginnings, transformations, and fresh starts, and this April, this is particularly true for a stretch of seafront in Conwy. The North Wales beach, Rhos-on-Sea, has received a multi-million-pound EU-funded investment from the Welsh Government and local council. Publication 'North Wales Live' reported that the beach has been 'relaid with “Saharan” quantities of sand [ahead of] the 2023 season' as part of a proposed facelift.

One million tonnes of sand, sucked from a site in Liverpool Bay, has raised the beach sixteen feet, meaning the beach has now been dubbed as ‘Costa del Rhos’ by locals and tourists alike.

In addition to revamping the entire promenade, this investment is just one piece of a coastal defence project that will benefit the three-mile ‘Welsh Riviera’ from Old Colwyn to Rhos on Sea.

One business that will surely reap the benefit of this North Walian investment will be the Colbourn Hotel, Colwyn Bay. The historic hotel, located just off Colwyn Bay promenade, has been established since 1905 and has been subject to many renovations.

Sidney Phillips are pleased to be marketing the property's freehold, family-run for over 40 years. Our clients, selling due to retirement, have worked to build up an excellent business with a great reputation and see repeat trade from guests in the UK and worldwide. Testament to the success, owners reported a 94% occupancy level in 2021, and the 9.7 rating on Booking.com is further evidence that this would be a great, unique opportunity for a buyer.

The Colbourn Hotel is an established guesthouse just a stone’s throw from West Promenade. The property has plenty of character and boasts eight guestrooms, communal and private lounges, a kitchen, a breakfast room, plus an enclosed courtyard. An array of tourist attractions, including the Welsh Mountain Zoo, Conwy and Caernarfon Castles and Snowdonia National Park, are easily accessible from the town and just a short drive along the A55 to the popular seaside resorts of Llandudno and Towyn.
