Houston Lawrence was honoured to welcome Kevin and Camilla from our local Samaritans branch in Putney to the office for a wonderfully informative and interesting workshop.

As experts in listening and talking, the Samaritans volunteers were able to provide invaluable insight into their methods when talking to people who are suicidal or just generally struggling, and how this can be translated into the workplace environment.

Camilla and Kevin told us of Samaritans crucial work with Network Rail and other companies such as doctors and nurses working in emergency rooms to support their staff. The ability to support colleagues and employees through simple listening techniques can make a major difference to somebody struggling, and this being equally true with their tips for self-care.

Houston Lawrence can therefore proudly and whole-heartedly recommend this service to any local business that is conscious of their mental wellbeing. Samaritans does such amazing work throughout the country and their volunteer staff can always use a helping hand to keep the operation running and expand it, so please support them with donations or by fundraising via their multiple challenges and events.

Houston Lawrence participated in the Samarathon this July and raised £1,000 for our local branch in Putney and would encourage anyone to join us going forward in other challenges.

If you ever need help, you can call Samaritans day and night a 116 123 or visit their website at www.samaritans.org
