The Berkeley Group is seeking support for the development at Gillette Corner with an active campaign at Syonlanefuture.com.

The Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Michael Gove, called in the proposal (November 2021) following letters from the Osterley and Wyke Green Residents Association (OWGRA) and local Conservative councillors. The proposal had been previously approved by the Mayor of London and the London Borough of Hounslow. We covered the story here.

The planning inspector will commence the consultation on March 15th 2022, and take 15 days. The report and conclusion are expected in the second half of 2022.

OWGRA will submit their detailed objections before the inspector commences her work on March 15th 2022. They object to the overdevelopment of the area, the impact on local infrastructure, the environmental impact, and the proposals are not in keeping with the area’s character.

The developer, Berkeley, will state the case that the proposal delivers 2,150 new homes of which 35 per cent will be affordable, a new Tesco store, £30m investment in infrastructure and seven acres of new green and public spaces.

OWGRA states on their website, “We never opposed development on these sites but have argued all along that we want developments that provide housing that fits in with the area and will ensure that future occupants have access to adequate infrastructure as required by planning guidelines.”
