The UK’s Small Business Saturday campaign will roll into Britain’s high streets again this winter on 4th December 2021. The now-iconic campaign, designed to champion the benefits of shopping with small retailers, will see its nationwide tour commence in the coming days, starting with Glasgow ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).

In total, this year’s Small Business Saturday roadshow will stop in 24 towns and cities throughout the UK, shining a light on the six-million-strong small business community nationwide. The 2021 campaign will focus heavily on carbon emissions and the nationwide tour has been dubbed a “zero emissions” tour, encouraging small business owners to limit their carbon footprint and work towards the UK’s goal of being net zero by 2050.

The tour will demonstrate a fleet of eco-friendly vehicles that could transform the working week for small businesses and their carbon footprints. This includes push bikes ideal for making local deliveries and electric-powered cars, vans and scooters. The decision to push for a zero emissions tour was influenced by a recent survey from campaign backer BT Skills for Tomorrow and Small Business Britain. An overwhelming 97% of small businesses surveyed insisted sustainability was paramount to their business today.

In order to mitigate the nationwide tour’s carbon footprint, Small Business Saturday 2021 will comprise a ‘hybrid’ campaign format. Aside from a plethora of in-person activities throughout all 24 towns and cities, the event will also run virtual webinars, workshops and mentoring opportunities covering a broad spectrum of small business topics. Many small businesses and industry experts will also be interviewed live across the social media handles of the Small Business Saturday 2021 campaign.
