How long have you been with Sidney Phillips?
40 years, joining in 1981.
How long have you worked in the industry, what was your first job?
I have been in the leisure and hospitality sector since 1974, originally as a stocktaker and inventory valuer with Oliver, Kitchen & Flynn in Leeds. I then moved to Tilley & Culverwell in Trowbridge in 1979 to take over their licensed trade department.
Where were you when you accepted your role at Sidney Phillips?
In the Crewkerne office of Rendell & Northcote prior to their merger with Sidney Phillips.
What is your favourite thing about working for Sidney Phillips?
It is as well respected as a big national company but has the beauty of being privately owned.
What are your hobbies away from work?
Living in the South West, I am lucky to enjoy walking my Labrador in the stunning countryside. I am a season ticket holder at Exeter Chiefs and enjoy attending matchdays.
What is your favourite holiday destination?
Greek Islands. I have been lucky enough to tour the USA, cross Australia by train, tour both islands in New Zealand and travel through Asia from the top of Thailand, through Malaysia and onto the Philippines also.
What has been the biggest challenge of your career so far?
The market crashes of 1989 and 2008.

I am an ex-marathon runner!
