Living Walls and interior landscaping specialists Smartscape (part of the Scotscape Group) now in Central London Offices
To ease travel times for the Scotscape Smartscape team and enable clients to conveniently visit and collaborate with us about urban greening projects we now have a Central London office showcasing some of our interior landscaping and living wall solutions.
Scotscape and CCM Facilities Ltd. share the drive to improve workplace well-being and their natural synergy as companies has evolved. The Scotscape Smartscape team now use this benchmark office space as a base, holding meetings and show-casing the interior landscaping work to businesses keen to make improvements to the health and well-being of their staff by adopting strategic horticulture and ethical facilities management.
This wide-ranging interior landscaping project included; a large moss logo, an exterior living wall, an interior living ceiling, an interior living wall and moss columns and panels. A mobile living screen to separate workplace and canteen area was also commissioned.
The CCM Ethos
CCM are passionate about creating and maintaining work-place environments that improve well-being, reduce stress and increase productivity by offering nature-based cleaning and maintenance solutions – bringing a service which is ‘Better By Nature’ to multiple blue-chip businesses across the South East. With the considerable evidence showing that the VOC’s contained in traditional cleaning products are bad for health, this is an extremely positive step.
To demonstrate intent and set the precedent, they have invested in their own work-space as a showcase for nature-based products and maintenance solutions, by supporting their own hive of busy staff with a beautiful green and naturally cleaned office. These, in turn, are being introduced to CCM’s considerable client base.
We asked the CCM Facilities team for their response to the plants and to the breakout space
We asked the CCM team how they felt about the planting in their offices and if they felt improvements in the office environment?
How much do you use the outside space and has the inclusion of the living wall encouraged you to get outside more during your breaks?
Answer: It has really encouraged us to go outside where we can enjoy our breaks close to nature. When it is hot inside, living walls comes as a solace to spend small breaks.
Do you enjoy having a communal space to share lunch with colleagues?
Answer: Yes we enjoy that space as it really helps us to connect to our colleagues. We spend our summer afternoons mostly outside.
What do think of the interior planting within the office, do you think it improves the working environment?
Answer: Yes it does, as it changes the entire ambience of the office. It makes the office much brighter and healthier.
In the board room have you noticed if the incorporation of plants make you feel more alert during longer meetings, rather than feeling tired and ‘foggy’ which often happens when air quality is poor?
Answer: It gets very hot in that room if there are many people in there, because the size of the room and air ventilation. But the plants add a nice touch and relief.
Could you sum up in one sentence your personal response to working in a ‘green’ office
Answer: Its great to have green inside office it makes you more focused and awake. It sets our office apart from standard office space and reflects our company values.
