Powells Gains ISO 14001

With a quest to continually develop and improve here at Powells, this week we can proudly announce that we have achieved our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification.

Through months of hard work from the whole team at our Andover HQ to ensure all systems are in place to gain the accreditation, which will complement our ISO 9001 accreditation for quality management, we can now say we’re a company that not only works to deliver the best possible service for our clients, but also strives to be as sustainable as possible.

As an internationally recognised standard, the ISO 14001 helps businesses of all sizes across all sectors make their day to day operations more sustainable and environmentally friendly. It provides guidance of best practice on how to consider multiple aspects of your business, from procurement, storage, distribution, delivery of service etc. with the goal of reducing the carbon footprint of the company. It also drives you to evaluate how you manage emergency response, customer expectations, stakeholders, and relationships with the local community. Adhering to this standard not only benefits the environment but businesses as well, improving brand reputation, engaging employees, and ultimately saving money through the reduction of waste.

Who is the ISO?

The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent, non-governmental body that develops standards to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems; standards that can be applied to businesses from many sectors. They set out the best practices that a company should operate by and recognise those that do with their stamp of approval in the form of their unique certification.

With the growing importance for business to make a change and reduce their impact on the environment, we are very proud to gain our ISO 14001 and can happily demonstrate that we’re a company that’s trying to make a difference in the world.
