SANDCASTLE CHALLENGE 2019
Sun, sea, sand and some remarkable beach sculptures made Children North East’s annual Sandcastle Challenge one of the most successful in its 25 year history. Have a look at our photo gallery of the day below!
Around 1,750 excited primary and middle school children took part in the challenge showing off their construction skills on the sand at Sandhaven Beach, South Shields on Friday. This year’s theme was ‘Build a New World’ which lead to some really innovative and very topical sculptures – from sea turtle sculptures to whole villages powered by green energy and even an electric car made from sand!

The Women in Planning North East volunteers and the children enjoyed the event which raised money for the Children North East charity who provide services to help all North East children and young people grow up to be healthy and happy.
