Acting on behalf of Wrexham Glyndŵr University, Legat Owen is bringing a new residential site to the market in New Broughton with outline planning for up to 112 dwellings.

Accessed off Gatewen Road, the triangular-shaped site extends to 11.8 acres and is situated in a semi-rural setting, two miles from Wrexham town centre. This is the second instruction Legat Owen has undertaken for the University. This first saw the University exchange on a 7.38-acre site adjacent to its town centre campus at Plas Coch, which is now in for detailed planning, with a decision due in the autumn of this year.

All the funds generated from these land sales will be re-invested by the University and put towards the Campus 2025 Project, which is the University’s strategy to significantly improve all areas of their campuses.

Speaking about the residential development opportunity, Will Rees, residential director at Legat Owen, commented:

'Securing planning consent on appeal means we can now put this site in the market. We have witnessed strong demand in the north Wales market from regional and national housebuilders over the last 12 months, and expect this site to attract an equally good level of interest.  Informal tender offers are invited in writing by 12:30pm Friday 30th April 2021.'

Will Rees, Director, Legat Owen

Lynda Powell, Executive Director of Operations at the University continued:

'Disposing of these sites from our non-core estate will release capital to allow the University to significantly improve our campuses and learning environment, which in turn, will attract more students into North East Wales and contribute more to the local economy.'

Lynda Powel, Executive Director, Wrexham Glyndŵr University
