New Beginnings For Closed Surrey Village Pub

The Castle, a closed pub situated in the Surrey village of Outwood, has been successfully let through licensed property specialist, Sidney Phillips.
The Castle sits in a desirable area of Surrey Weald and boasts several miles of public National Trust footpaths and bridleways as well as Outwood Common for all to enjoy. Local tourist attractions include Chartwell, Hever Castle and Lingfield racecourse. Also draw large numbers of visitors to the area.
The Castle itself if a traditional two-storey public house, and enjoys a bar area (20), snug (11), restaurant (36), four bedroom owners accommodation, gardens and car park.
Although having closed its doors back in July 2019, the Castle has historically operated as a food-led public house operated under numerous Pub Company lease agreements. The property was purchased by an investor at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, who has now granted a new free-of-tie lease on the property to new operators.
The pub will be reopened by a family operation with a wealth of experience in the leisure and hospitality sectors, who’s vision it is to create a destination for simple, seasonal healthy food, making the pub a focal point for the village and those visiting the area.
Robert Cockayne, Regional Valuations Manager for the London & South East handled the letting and comments, “It is always a pleasure to confirm that a public house will be reopen following a lengthy period of closure. The new Tenant’s plans sound rather exciting and I for one am looking forward to visiting when they open shortly.”
