Buildings & Liability Insurance

Standard business insurance has been unaffected by Coronavirus. Rebuild values remain the same and so will premiums and the claims process. The same goes for property owners liability insurance so if a member of the public suffer an injury as a result of your premises, cover should remain in place to protect you.

Unoccupancy insurance

Due to lost earnings, some tenants have had to leave their homes. The pandemic is seeing an increase in unoccupancy and an increase in the amount of time a building is left vacant.

Standard landlord’s insurance will include some form of unoccupancy cover but you'll need to check the details. Some insurers have relaxed the criteria and increased the unoccupancy period up to 90 days, but others haven’t. It they haven't it may be worth considering a standalone unoccupied policy to provide the extended cover.
