LandAid COVID-19 Emergency Fund gives out over £500,000 in first month

The LandAid COVID-19 Emergency Fund has given out over half a million pounds in its first month to youth homelessness charities across the country. LandAid, the property industry charity, is hoping to raise and distribute £1m in emergency funding in the coming months. 

LandAid would like to say thank you to the following companies for supporting the fund: Abstract Securities, Allsop, BCLP, BNP Paribas, CLS Holdings, Grainger, Grosvenor Estate, Helical, Knight Frank, Landsec, Logicor, M&G, Picton Capital, Prologis, Savills, Segro, Siren Design, Simmons & Simmons, Squire Patton Boggs, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.

The grants given out will support thousands of young homeless people through this crisis in every region and country of the UK. The money has been given out in small grants of up to £10,000 to 60 charities including Youth Voice, a national programme which supports young people across the country to use their lived experience of homelessness to create change. Their £10,000 grant will be used to support their members through this crisis, they will be able to access small grants for basic necessities such as food, fuel and phone credit.  

Tamzin Reynolds-Rosser, National Youth Engagement Service Manager, St Basils Youth Voice said: “COVID-19 has hit us all hard, but for young homeless people across the country the effects have been even more acute. The grant awarded to Youth Voice by LandAid will enable us to give Youth Voice small grants to help them weather this storm – many have lost unstable employment and do not have the technology to connect with their support networks – but this will change that. Thank you.”

Kate Brown, Director of the Westminster Foundation, which represents the charitable giving of the Duke of Westminster and Grosvenor businesses said:  “Young people sleeping rough or living in homelessness accommodation already faced significant challenges, which have sadly been made much worse by the current crisis. Our main focus is to support vulnerable young lives and we’re concerned about how difficult it is for young homeless people to access basic necessities such as food, a safe space to shelter or isolate, and vital mental health support.
