title

This building is a standalone structure which nestles within the body of the college complex and seeks to maintain the modern curved roof appearance of the buildings but with a slightly softer lighter feel.

The enclosure achieves a 40m x 32m footprint, with 10m minimum clear internal eaves and approximately 13m to the ‘ridge’ which meets the requirements of Volleyball England, the governing body setting the standards for International and Olympic beach volleyball facilities in the country. It houses a specialist prepared sand pit, which offers the opportunity to provide 2no. International and Olympic standard size beach volley ball courts or 4no. standard courts.

The structure is a semi rigid frame and fabric enclosure with colour coated metal cladding for the lower portion of the external shell. This structure is secured to a reinforced concrete perimeter ring beam. The structure itself is galvanised and powder coated steel which is fully visible within the enclosure. The building is wrapped with a fire retardant pvc coated polyester fabric. Within this zone are located colour coated steel doors which provide general access and fire exits.

Whilst the enclosure is primarily for beach volley ball, the enclosure size would also permit the space to be used for alternative forms of sports such as sitting volleyball for disabled athletes, beach soccer, beach handball, beach kabbadi, footvolley, beach basketball, beach korfball as well as athletics training.

Trinity prides itself on not following a “one style fits all” design philosophy, as past projects will prove. This allows the flexibility when preparing solutions for ever increasingly difficult sites.
