In Conversation with Chris Chapman

Chris Chapman, Director at Hoban Design was delighted to join Sarah Austin of the Really Helpful Club as part of her 'In Conversation With' series on Instagram Live. This episode highlighted the journey of the practice, its the growth over the last seven years and the recent changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
To say 2020 and 2021 (to date) has been interesting is an understatement. An immense amount of time has been spent at home by families. This has involved home schooling, working from home, recreation and exercise, not to mention borderline commercial kitchen operations feeding the troops!
Chris gave superb insight into the company's approach to each project, the importance of listening and how it is imperative to ensure the client's needs are met. This is especially pertinent in the current climate of working from home and video calls, where important decisions are now made remotely.
Home owners have been forced to re-considering how their homes work, and will work in the future. For some this leads naturally to questions of how to re-organise or extend their existing home, others have the fortune to be able to move home entirely.
Hoban Design have seen an increase in new clients shaping their projects around this premise. They are here to help, They are seeing more and more clients with with increasingly large and detailed briefs – but often this leaves them more confused. Hoban Design's skill is translating this all, filtering it and condensing it into what that specific family really needs, then applying that to the fabric of their existing, or new home.
Hoban Design was founded in 2014 by brothers Gary and Brian Hoban and Chris was the first to join the company. Chris has been key to both delivering their unique projects while actively growing the practice and reaching out to new clients throughout the years.
