Icon Industrial has completed work on the final warehouse/logistics development at its £250 million Icon Manchester Airport scheme.
Unit 2 is the fourth development at the 45-acre site at the World Logistics Hub, which was acquired by strategic joint venture partners, Stoford and TPG Real Estate in July 2017.
Built on behalf of THG plc, Unit 2 comprises a single-aspect warehouse building of 459,000 sq ft, with Grade A integral office accommodation and two-storey hub offices, and is located off Sunbank Lane near the M56.
Icon Industrial delivered three additional buildings as part of earlier phases of development, which are all now occupied.
Unit 1 includes one of Europe’s largest content creation studios. Unit 3 is a Grade A speculative warehouse/logistics development of 141,000 sq ft, that was also sold to a global consumer brand.
A fourth building, Unit 4, is a state-of-the-art 103,000 sq ft industrial warehouse facility sited at the entrance to the scheme, which was completed on behalf of Alpha LSG in 2020.
Stoford Joint Managing Director, Dan Gallagher, said: “We are extremely proud to have built Icon Manchester Airport into one of the highest quality logistics locations in the UK. The fact that deals for all four units were concluded so quickly is testament to Icon Manchester Airport’s unrivalled location in the heart of the Northern Powerhouse.”
Sir Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council, said: "From the very beginning this scheme represented a belief in the city as a serious place to invest and do business. The importance of this type of logistics development cannot be underestimated and builds on the strength of Manchester Airport as a key strategic location for global commerce - which is a vital commodity as Manchester and the north continue on a path of economic recovery due to the pandemic."
Unit 2 at Icon Manchester Airport was built by principal contractor Winvic, on behalf of Icon Industrial.
