The Feathers Hotel in Woodstock has been bought by local property developer Daniel Ede, who plans to continue the hospitality business.

The Ede Homes Group already owns hotels no192 in Oxford and Old Abbey House in Abingdon, as well as developing new residential properties in the region, and is now adding the Grade II listed 21-bed hotel to its portfolio.

Originally a 17th century town house in the town centre, the rooms provide contemporary comforts alongside stunning catering sourced from local providers. Located close to Blenheim Palace World Heritage site, Bicester Village and the beautiful Cotswold hills, the hotel was sold following a highly confidential marketing process.

New owner Daniel Ede said: “Having lived in Woodstock I’ve always regarded The Feathers as a historic and well recognised part of the town. We’re planning to build on the hotel’s reputation and over time introduce new technology to help grow the business further, while maintaining its original beauty.

“As a group we’re soon to open The Edge, in the former Victoria Hotel, which will be a contemporary 38-bedroom hotel. Alongside our new homes developments across Oxford and Gloucestershire we really know how to attract tourists as well as residents to the area.”

The vendor, Pank Koria, to whom Colliers also sold the hotel, said he was delighted to have taken the hotel through the challenges of near closure after the pandemic to a successful full reopening, and pleased to have found such capable hoteliers to take over this charming hotel, with a wonderful team.

Peter Brunt, director in Hotels Agency at Colliers, who managed the sale added: “The Feathers is a well-known hotel in the region, which received plenty of interest from potential buyers due to its close location to the many hotspots of the Cotswolds. I’m pleased that we’ve found a new owner who is committed to maintaining the property for hospitality and looking to invest further in the business – it’s an added bonus that they’re a real local as well!”
