Decorating Hallways Can Often Seem Like a Daunting Task

But as the entrance to your home and gateway to the majority of rooms within in it - there’s a huge opportunity to make it a space that brings you a sense of joy upon entering.
I’ve spent a lot of time working on the details of entrance halls over the years so thought I’d share some subtle changes that helped refresh this particular hallway. We removed old carpets and had the floorboards sanded and stained. The wall lights were replaced with brighter, more elegant fittings, fully fitted carpet was replaced by a bound stair runner. 1980s yellow walls replaced by a calming, neutral colour and a bespoke case installed to cover the ugly radiator. (If you look carefully you’ll probably spot that the radiator case wasn’t quite finished when this photo was taken!). We decided to locate the client's Grandfather clock down at the end of the hall as it pleasingly draws your eye.
