Former Greggs site purchase completed by London Square for a 116 residential development
Global real estate firm Colliers brokered a deal with award-winning real estate developer London Square on a former Greggs bakery site in Twickenham, South-west London.
Now known as London Square Twickenham Green, the development will feature a collection of mews houses and apartments next to the River Crane, comprising 58 homes for private sale, with 58 affordable homes, 47 of which are London Affordable Rent, with a regenerated riverfront and landscaped outdoor spaces enhancing the neighbourhood. London Square is now a wholly owned subsidiary of leading UAE real estate developer Aldar.
Twickenham has a good range of shops, cafes and pubs, with paths along the Thames. There are also popular local parks and 2,500 acres of Richmond Park in the area, plus outstanding schools at all levels, from nursery to secondary schools. The development is within walking distance of Strawberry Hill and Twickenham stations, with fast services to London Waterloo.
Richard Hutton, Greggs Finance Director said: “We are pleased to have completed the sale of our former bakery site to London Square, and look forward to seeing this site redeveloped for the benefit of new residents and the wider community.”
Andrew White from Colliers added: “We’re pleased to have acted for Greggs on this deal. There are many challenging sites in London like this which are tucked away but in the middle of residential areas, and should quite rightly be redeveloped for new properties for people to live in. Clever design and understanding of the local community needs are essential for unlocking these parcels of land and delivering a blend of new private and affordable homes in the capital. London Square have worked hard with our clients to unlock the full future potential on the site for which we commend them.”
