Carrock Group-New build home – West Cumbria
Posted by Carrock Group on 1st November 2019 -
The property was designed over 2 storeys on a complex sloping site. This gave our team the opportunity to use a site constraint to the client’s advantage and design and construct a lower basement level which housed a biomass boiler and gymnasium. The basement was tanked with the tanking process phased due to temperature fluctuations. The structure of the house was built into the bedrock layer with the view of deliberately minimising the height of the finished building. Tree preservation was a key consideration across a very tight construction site with tree root zones protected by Herras Fencing. Our site accommodation and welfare facilities were stacked due to limited space and the site was flooded twice during the construction period. We instructed all our suppliers to deliver materials on a just in time basis. The project was the Winner of the FMB National Award 2015 best new build home in the UK.This was an exciting project to construct a new build home on the west coast of Cumbria… without compromise!
