Winter is most traditionally seen as the season for charitable donations.  Two years on from the pandemic, many charitable organisations continue to battle financial and operational pressures compounded in 2022 by the war in Ukraine, the cost-of-living crisis and the UK recession. During the first shutdown, one in four nonprofits with annual budgets under £10k decided to halt operations. Government assistance, such as the furlough programme, contributed to the durability of many organisations. There is no doubt that the pandemic significantly impacted upon the way charities deliver services to their beneficiaries throughout the country and abroad.

Charity Facts!

- £27 The average monthly donation in the UK in 2021 per person

- 170,383 Charities listed on the Register at 31 March 2022

- £11.3 billion people gave to charity in the UK in 2020

According to Volunteering Research Hub analysis, a greater proportion of volunteers overall are motivated by a sense of community and willingness to protect neighbours and their community.

Property industry charities

There are multiple charities working within the real estate sector or have a connection to the property industry.  The Landsite member LandAid is the leading property industry charity on a continued mission to deliver life-changing services for young people who have experienced homelessness or who are currently homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless in the future.

LandAid invests over £2 million every year in projects working to end youth homelessness.  Through a unique network of corporate partners, LandAid invest funding and expertise to achieve lasting impact.

Every year, thousands of young people in the UK find themselves homeless. It’s a problem that we’re here to tackle.

We bring the property industry together to support charities delivering life-changing services for young people who are or have been homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness in the future.

Through a unique network of corporate partners, we invest funding and expertise where we can achieve lasting impact. Together we can end youth homelessness.”

Below are some of The Landsite members actively involved with or supporting charity organisations in the UK.
