Building a Greener Future

The property industry is one of the driving forces behind new technology in the rapidly expanding renewable energy market.  Green solutions for eco-friendly new build homes and bringing existing properties in line with environmental targets are vital if we are to deliver on the UK's commitment to becoming a net-zero economy by 2050

And it's not just government targets pushing the research and development of sustainable technology forward. Developers are increasingly aware of a shift in consumer expectations. Sustainable builds with a reduced carbon footprint and the adoption of alternative energy sources (solar, wind, water and biomass) are more attractive than traditional gas and electric to increasingly environmentally-aware buyers.

Although 90% of UK homes are still currently heated by fossil fuels, the hike in energy prices may be the catalyst for the widespread adoption of sustainable alternative energy solutions. Consumers are seeking viable solutions that will both protect the environment and reduce their costs, which the industry must respond to.

While the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources will not happen overnight, it is inevitable. Renewable technology costs are lower now than ever before – making its adoption more economically viable for businesses and consumers. And while a full transition to renewable energy sources is estimated to take several decades, if not a century, consumer needs and expectations will expedite the process.

Keeping abreast of the latest technology is necessary to deliver environmentally-friendly buildings and meet consumer expectations as sustainable living becomes the norm. Industry experts anticipate a significant shift in consumer behaviour towards favouring carbon-neutral companies and those that have left behind the linear economy in favour of the circular economy model.

Companies like the award-winning Aceleron Energy, which has developed the world's most sustainable lithium battery packs in a full circular economy approach (serviceable, upgradable and recyclable), are leading the way.

Their new OffGen compact energy storage system is the first system designed for off-grid or grid-tied residential use and is engineered to support a sustainable model using future-proofed Essential batteries. Unlike other products on the market, every individual part of the OffGen can be removed for repair, replacement, or upgrade, extending the system's life.

It's precisely this level of environmental awareness and responsibility, putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do, that will build a greener future for everyone.
