Bringing Plants into the Built Environment

Scotscape and Grosvenor Britain and Ireland recently launched the Smart Pillar, whereby Scotscape’s Fytotextile Living wall system was adapted to be retrofitted onto the lamp posts of Ebury Street in London's Belgravia. With irrigation powered by solar energy, a damage free fitting system and a tank of 75 ltrs of water incorporated in the design – it looks like greening up our lamp posts could become the norm across the UK. The press have welcomed such green innovation and we have seen Smart Pillar featured in the Telegraph, The Evening Standard,Pro LandscaperHorticulture Week. Interest from borough councils and property developers is very high in this new greening option.

Bespoke vertical greening

This is the beauty of Fytotextile. Our living wallsystem is lightweight and flexible, meaning that any challenging surface can have the green treatment! With thoughtful engineering underpinning each and every installation we undertake, from a regular Living Wall to a Smart Pillar, no challenge is too great. Supplied in both standard and bespoke sizes, this patented system is breathable, which supports excellent plant health.
