What an absolute pleasure it was to participate at UK Construction Week! It was hosted as the UK's largest built event taking place for the first time in London at ExCel from 3rd - 5th May.
Our CTO & Co-founder Carlton Cummins and sales representatives, Bruce MacPherson & Elisa Alexieva managed the event stand between the 3 days, where those visiting applauded the way our product range to date fits with the circular economy approach.
We used this opportunity to showcase our new OffGen compact energy storage system, amongst the construction industry. The OffGen is the first system designed for off-grid or grid-tied residential use and is engineered to support a sustainable model, using our future-proofed Essential batteries. Unlike other products on the market, every individual part of the OffGen can be removed for repair, replacement, or upgrade, extending the life of the system. Currently in the UK, over 90% of homes are heated by fossil fuels. Considering the energy cost spike, it becomes concerning for those trying to heat and run their home, as it’s not only an environmental matter but an economic problem too.
The OffGen solves this predicament as it enables a home to store excess clean energy either for its own use or for selling back onto the grid – for use during peak demand periods.
The system can then recharge from the grid during off-peak hours, capitalising on cheaper tariffs. This setup creates a more flexible energy system, increasing the possibilities for renewable energy and helping to decarbonise the grid.
UK Construction Week truly proved how industry professionals such as architects and developers as well as homeowners are realising and calling for a sustainable change. With households across the UK facing 54% increase on their energy bills, it became a no brainer that the OffGen system is part of the solution.
