A unique and inspiring group of homes, where care and lifestyle go hand in hand.

In order to provide the best environment, Signature has to build its own brand of care community. Each and every home needs to be in the right place and designed and built to our high and exact standards. To achieve this we need to find land for our communities, design the buildings, obtain planning permission and construct the homes. This is often a complicated and difficult process but we feel it is worthwhile to have the best homes for our residents.
Signature is helping to address a growing need to increase the amount of specialised care accommodation for the elderly. The elderly population is growing, with people not only living longer but also needing greater support for longer. The prevalence of dementia is also unfortunately increasing. At the same time many of the existing care homes in the UK do not meet peoples expectations with a high proportion of homes still not even providing en suite bathrooms.
As developer and operator, Signature has a long-term commitment to its site and the local community. We are dedicated to being good neighbours and enhancing local communities by providing much needed care and accommodation. We wish to build and maintain good relationships with local residents and organisations.
A local development
Prior to submitting a planning application we will carry out public consultation and work closely with councils and local residents in developing new facilities. Our care homes are registered with the Care Quality Commission and fall within Use Class C2 ‘Residential Institutions’ of the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes Order 1987).
Our typical resident is in their mid-80s and generally requires some form of care – from personal care to dementia and nursing care. Our experience in operating care homes has found that the majority of the residents who live in a Signature home previously lived, or have a family connection, to the local area. This also applies to the vast majority of the 65 – 80 jobs each home creates.
Local residents can be concerned about traffic generation and car parking but our homes are low traffic generators. Our residents rarely own a car and visitors have flexible visiting hours. In addition each home operates a travel plan for staff to minimise the use of a car.
Our buildings are carefully designed to fit in with local architectural styles whilst at the same time creating a building that our residents have always dreamed of being able to live in. The setting of the new care home will be enhanced by exceptional landscaping. Good quality existing trees are retained and additional semi-mature trees planted as part of the proposals.
