We are staging a mammoth charity auction to benefit four deserving causes in memory of former Chairman and Partner, Charles Clark, who died of cancer earlier this year at the age of 59. During his lifetime Charles raised over £2M for various good causes by conducting charity auctions.

To honour his legacy colleagues are staging an auction in aid of The Farming Community NetworkRoyal Agricultural Benevolent InstitutionSt Margaret’s Hospice and the Somerset Bowel Cancer Support Group.

The sale will take place at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, Junction 24, North Petherton, on Saturday, 21st December.

Fittingly it will be run by some of the auctioneers who have sold alongside Charles and others who have been taught by him.

Andrew Clements, who has taken over from Charles on the calf section, said: “Charles was extremely well respected and raised a fantastic amount for charity over his lifetime.

“We felt that as he taught and guided us at the beginning of our auctioneering careers we wanted to do something to honour him.”

Partner Derek Biss agreed: “We are proud to be a part of the community we work in and by choosing two strong farming charities we feel this is the perfect way to give back to the community while honouring Charles.”

GTH Chairman Graham Ford added that the two other charities; St Margaret’s Hospice and Somerset Bowel Cancer Support Group, "were both charities that supported Charles during his illness. All of us at GTH think it is important to try to raise as much money as possible for these charities, to help those who may be going through what Charles and his family did."

All donations are greatly appreciated. Among the first entries is a calf donated by one of the vendors who Charles has sold calves for over the past 30 years, a holiday and a day’s shooting.

If you have anything you wish to donate please contact Greenslade Taylor Hunt on 01278 410250 or [email protected] All proceeds from the auction will be split between the charities.

Everyone is welcome at the sale, which starts at 12 noon on Saturday, December 21, at Sedgemoor Auction Centre. A range of seasonal refreshments plus some unique auction offerings will be available.
